Menu Mondays – Homemade Twix Bars

These bars a hit every time I make them!  They are delicious, with just the right mix of sweet and salty.

Ingredients:

48 Club crackers
1 c. graham crackers, crushed
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. peanut butter
1 c. milk chocolate chips

Directions:

Spread 24 of the Club crackers, in a single layer, along the bottom of a 9 x 13″ baking pan.

In a medium sized saucepan, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugars, milk and butter.  Bring to a boil, mixing constantly, and cook around 5 minutes until mixture is a thick carmel-like texture that pulls away from the sides of the pan.  Pour evenly over the cracker layer and spread carefully.

Top with remaining crackers and press down slightly.  Place in the frig for at least 30 minutes.

When ready, combine peanut butter and chocolate chips in a small saucepan and heat until chocolate is melted.  Gently spread over the top cracker layer.  Place back in the frig until chocolate layer is hard.  Cut into bars.  Store in the frig as you don’t want them to soften.

Enjoy!

  1. Oh these sound so yummy! Twix bars are one of my favorite candy bars and I love sweet/salty combos. Going to have to try these once I get myself some Club crackers.
